Celebrate your mid to late spring garden with rare Rose of May Daffodil plants. When our Dutch growers chanced upon a cache of these heirloom bulbs, we were delighted to reintroduce them exclusively for our daffodil lovers. Also known as Poet's Daffodils, the blossoms form in double snowy white 3-inch whorls, which give them the look of old-fashioned roses. Their heavenly fragrance is an added bonus.
Narcissus albus plenus odoratus are easy to grow perennials hardy in zones 3 to 8. We recommend that you plant the bulbs in full or half sun in soil that drains well. The flowers are not choosy and grow in clay, loamy or sandy soil where they reach a height of 12 to 14 inches and spread 6 to 12 inches. Plant the bulbs 4 to 6 inches apart and 3 inches deep.
Good companion plants for Narcissus Daffodils include blue bells, wood hyacinths, tulips and muscari. These flowers look amazing planted along walkways, borders or garden beds. They also make wonderful naturalizers for grassy areas and add a pop of colour to ground covers or when placed near flowering shrubs. In addition to providing excellent cut flowers for springtime bouquets, you can also force the bulbs indoors. Brighten your favorite planting space with Rose of May Daffodil plants, and bring joy and springtime fragrance to your garden.
