Adding the petite Sugar Baby Carpet Border Lily to your garden gives it a picturesque charm all will admire. These diminutive lilies have petals of pure white with soft pink tips that are reminiscent of spun sugar. Blooming in early to midsummer, these perennial lilies multiply each year, and each plant produces six to eight full sized flowers.
This Asiatic lily cultivar (Lilium asiatic) grows best in full sun or semi-shade in hardiness zones 3 to 8. With a spread of 6 to 12 inches, these low-growing plants are ideal for borders in front of taller lilies or other summer perennials. Plant the lily flower bulbs in the autumn, 9 to 12 inches apart and 6 inches deep in well-drained sandy, loamy or clay soil for a colourful summer display. Each trumpet shaped flower measures 4 inches across, so these lilies make a bold impact in your landscape.
Picture your patio with these tiny lilies growing in containers or your cottage garden's winding pathways lined with these beauties. The blooms last for a good while on the plants, and also look fantastic when cut and given prime position in a bouquet. Choose the Sugar Baby carpet border lily for a fanciful addition to your summer garden.
