Double your delight with the golden-yellow blossoms of Quail Daffodils, delicious combinations of brilliant colour and sweet perfume ideal for borders or naturalizing. These ruffled, trumpet-shaped flowers are among spring's longest lasting blooms, filling your garden with sunshine in early to mid spring and adding sweet perfume to spring bouquets.
Plant your Quail daffodils (Narcissus jonquilla 'Quail') in the fall in well-drained soil where they'll receive six to eight hours of direct sun each day. Daffodil bulbs tolerate half sun and half shade, but more rays translate to more blooms. Hardy in zones 3 through 8, each plant spreads less than 6 inches, so plant bulbs 4 to 6 inches apart and 6 inches deep. They tolerate all soil types, as long as they get good drainage. These delightful perennials will multiply and spread each spring.
Deer-resistant Quail daffodils naturalize with enthusiasm, so don't hesitate to let them roam through un-manicured areas like slopes, meadows, woodland borders and road edges. At 16 to 18 inches tall, Quail Daffodils are also well-suited to the fronts of borders. Pair them with other spring bloomers like hyacinth and tulips for a colourful container garden or bountiful beds. Treat your garden and your neighbours to a long-lasting spring show with these fragrant, golden-yellow Dutch beauties.
