Welcome in the spring with the Orchid Iris Mixture. This funky foursome blooms in early to mid spring and includes violet blue Lady Beatrix Stanley irises, alice blue Sheila Ann Germany irises, and icy blue Katherine Hodgkin irises. These irises' slender standards rise up over thicker falls, which are intricately decorated with white stripes, speckles and yellow crests. Yellow Winogradowii irises complete the quartet with a bright pop of colour. These petite irises grow 4 to 6 inches tall and are deer resistant.

To ensure that your iris mix blooms early in the season, plant it in the fall. Bury the bulbs about 3 inches deep and 2 to 3 inches apart in well-drained clay, loamy or sandy soil. Irises will thrive when exposed to full sunlight for at least half the day, so make sure to plant them in full sunlight or light shade. This Dutch-sourced blend of Iris histroides is hardy in zones 3 through 9.

Use these adorable perennial irises to line walkways, or plant thick rows of flowers along fences or in raised beds. Their tranquil tones will look wonderful scattered throughout rock gardens or arranged in earthen containers. Enliven courtyards and sunny porches by placing them next to pots of your favourite purple and yellow spring flowers. Shake off the winter chill with the Orchid Iris Mixture.

The vivid colours of this mixture are a delight to see in the earliest days of spring! This stunning mix includes the orchidlike blooms of Lady Beatrix, Sheila Ann Germany, Katherine Hodgkin and winogradowii, a rare, truly unhybridized yellow reticulata species that blooms with the blue iris. The intense blues, whites, light blues and yellows make for a palette of complementary colours in the garden. Iris histroides.
