Rejoice in signs of spring approaching with early blooming Orchid Iris 'Lady Beatrix Stanley' flowers. These petite perennials can pop up so very early in spring that they arrive before the last snowflakes have melted. Though only standing 4 to 6 inches tall, the orchid-like blooms will catch your attention as splashes of yellow dance on soft blue petals. A soft fragrance reminiscent of violets will draw you in to appreciate their beauty up close.

Thriving in full to partial sun, these orchid irises (Iris histroides) should be planted during the fall. Plant in groups with each bulb spaced 2 to 3 inches apart and placed 3 inches in well-drained clay, loamy and sandy soil. These flowers will thrive when planted in zones 3 through 9. Known for their hardiness, these irises often survive late frosts and are resistant to deer.

Plant these delightful blue irises wherever you want warm colour to first surprise you after the cold days of winter. Stout little beacons of spring, Orchid Iris Lady Beatrix Stanley plants are easy to naturalize and pair well with early spring crocuses and galanthus for a woodland garden appeal. Add early spring fragrance and contrast to your garden by planting this striking blue iris variety.

An exceptionally early bloomer with fantastic, intense blue colour whose blooms resemble the unforgettable flowers of an orchid. This earliest-blooming of all iris can flower even before snow has melted. It will look like a deep Moorish blue cloud has descended upon your garden. Petite 4-6" stems are shorter than many iris, but what this plant lacks in stature, it makes up for with its exceptional, unmatched colouration and exquisite violet-like fragrance. Don't miss the opportunity to add this rare specimen to your garden! Iris histroides
