Exploding into bloom in mid spring, Halley's Comet Jumbo Perennial Tulip is unique among tulip varieties. Long-lived and hardy, this Dutch variety comes back bigger and stronger each season. It is everything you want in a perennial: bright, beautiful blooms on tall, sturdy stems proliferate in your garden or along your walkway, season after season. This reliable, robust tulip makes its appearance in a brilliant sunburst of yellow and red.
Halley's Comet jumbo perennial tulips thrive in full to half sun in Zones 3 to 8. Plant these Dutch-sourced darwin hybrid tulip bulbs in the fall, about 9 inches deep and 6 inches apart in well-drained clay, loamy or sandy soil. Then sit back and wait for the show. In mid spring, these fiery beauties burst into bloom, presenting bold classic cup shaped flowers atop 22- to 24-inch stems. Vigorous growers, they will increase in beauty every year.
Like its famous namesake, Halley's Comet jumbo perennial tulips offer a magnificent display. Their mid spring bloom time and height make them an excellent transitional tulip. Use them to create a stunning backdrop to rows of shorter crimson, gold or white tulips. Line borders and walkways with these bright, sunny beauties or add them to containers with hyacinth and daffodils. Light up your garden for years to come with these perennial tulip bulbs.
