For each offer ordered, get 16Pop Drumstick Allium into your flower beds to create a remarkable presentation that blends well with other summer plants. The drumstick-shaped blooms begin life coloured deep green, and gradually transform into dark burgundy-purple umbels. The foliage of these plants is thin and wispy, adding to their magical ambiance. Hummingbirds adore the flowers, but deer and other animals avoid them because of their garlicky taste.
Plant allium drumstick bulbs in a sunny or partly sunny position, at a depth of 3 inches and 2 to 4 inches apart. They'll grow to stand 20 to 24 inches tall. They thrive in clay, loamy or sandy, well-drained soil, and are suitable for hardiness zones 3 to 8. These Dutch bulbs are perennial, so take care to remove the blooms once they've faded and before they go to seed, and allow the leaves to dry as this nourishes the bulbs for the next season.
The allium sphaerocephalon drumstick flowers are fantastic as a focal point, and are a good filler once your spring blooms have faded and you're waiting for late summer plants to burst into blossom. The blooms look amazing when placed in fresh or dried flower arrangements, so be sure to pick some when you want an added splash of colour in your living space. Brighten your garden with fun-to-grow Drumstick Allium.
