Perfume your garden with the deliciously unique scent of the Double Freesia Mixture. These delicate double blossomed plants bloom from early to midsummer and display up to eight funnel shaped flowers in shades of lavender, lemon chiffon yellow, sunshine yellow, rosy pink, snowy white and coral. Commonly used as cut flowers, freesias also add luscious scent and colour to a garden display.
Plant your freesias in the autumn for summer splendour. Freesias grow well in zones 4 through 10 in well drained, clay, loamy or sandy soil. We recommend that you plant double freesia bulbs 4 to 6 inches apart and 6 inches deep in areas that receive full to half sun. The plants spread less than 6 inches and grow from 10 to 15 inches tall.
Freesia flower bulbs produce colourful fairy-like plants perfect for border plantings or along walkways. Freesias also grow well in containers outdoors, and you can bring them inside once the buds begin to show colour to have fresh flower displays in the winter. Their long-lasting and fragrant blooms are a popular addition to indoor arrangements. Miniature hollyhocks, with their upright stems and cheery blooms, or blue and purple bicoloured Japanese iris plants make nice companions for freesias. Enjoy the exotic scent and delicate beauty of the double freesia mixture.
