For each offer ordered, get 20In Greek mythology, the sun god, Apollo, created the hyacinth to honor the beauty of youth. Now, with our Colourful Hyacinth Collection, you can bring this beauty to your own garden. These Dutch bulbs burst forth into densely-packed, sweetly scented flowers clustered on the spikes of sturdy stems. Our selection of giant hyacinth orientalis flowers include the Blue Jacket (bright blue), Carnegie (white), Woodstock (maroon) and Fondant (soft pink) varieties.
These perennials in zones 4 to 8, so they do well in most climates. To get the most out of your hyacinth bulbs, place them in a sunny or semi-shaded patch of well drained clay, loamy or sandy soil. Bury the bulbs about six inches deep and six inches apart. Expect the first blooms in early or mid spring; each spike stands 8 to 10 inches tall and may contain up to 50 fragrant blossoms.
A welcome sight in spring, these colourful blooms brighten nearly any space. Equally suited to beds and containers, hyacinth can liven up a walkway or invigorate a patio. They make excellent companions for many less fragrant spring bloomers, as well. In addition to flower gardens, our colourful hyacinth collection is also popular indoors, and you can force blooms in mid winter. Welcome Apollo's rays with this selection of cheerful giant hyacinth.
