For each offer ordered, get 10Stand up, up and out with the Big Impact Allium Mixture. These towering Dutch perennials fill out in late spring and continue to flower through early summer. Alliums boast bold, spherical flower-heads ranging from 6 to 8 inches wide that rest on top of soaring stems that grow anywhere from 2 to 4 feet tall. This stunning contrast is accentuated by the the Big Impact Allium Mixture's colour range, which includes flowers in shades of white, purple, lilac-purple and violet.
The Big Impact Allium Mixture thrives in hardiness zones 4 through 8 and grows best in well-drained clay, loamy or sandy soil. Alliums require full sunlight to reach their full-bodied potential as well as plenty of space. Plant your alliums 9 inches deep to provide a secure foundation for those immense stems, and spread seeds 6 to 8 inches apart to avoid overcrowding the allium bulbs.
As if their size was not impressive enough, allium bulbs are both rabbit and deer resistant, so they provide a subtle and beautiful alternative to nets, fences or other deterrents. Consider planting your alliums along the edges of flower beds for texture as well as protection or to create structural borders and textured contours. Your garden will look up to these gentle giants.
